Part 4 ~ The Dalton Highway

Alaska Pipeline

The other name for the Dalton Highway is the Haul Road. Trucks haul equipment for the construction, maintenance of the road, the pipeline, the well fields and the folks who work there. We experienced light rain at the beginning of the drive, and where work on the road was in progress, water was used for dampening the dust and firming the road so by the time we were finished with the trip, we had mudsickles hanging from our van that were over an inch think and solid brown coating over the back and sides!
