Corkscrew SwampCorkscrew Swamp Sanctuary is in a wilderness area in Southwest Florida containing the largest stand of bald cypress trees in the United States, some of which are over 700 years old. The National Audubon Society maintains and protects this area. It has built a boardwalk into the area that gives visitors wonderful access to view and enjoy the natural wonders there. Our visit was during one of the driest years on record, and the water was condensed to small areas, where all the wildlife convened; the Lettuce Swamp area.
