Baking Tips
Elliott's Edibles' baker tossing cookies!

The Baker's Dozen Dictums!

  • Instructions? Just throw it all in a bowl and mix it up once.
  • Bake in a slow oven........is that one log or two?
  • Experimenting with a recipe? Don't bother to write it down....your family will love it when you try over and again to re-create that tasty recipe!
  • Roll out.....let's see.....just smash the whole darned mess between 2 cookie sheets!
  • Cut out cookies....OK, just take the previously smashed dough, and slice into squares. No waste. Very fast.
  • Measure? I can toss the right amount in there...just like the people on cooking shows.
  • When they say they're on a diet, it's much ado about nothing. Cook a double batch.
  • If you are going to bake, do it right....50 lb. sacks of sugar and flour and a garage for a pantry.
  • Brandied fruit for the sweet bread....1/2 cup for the bread, 1 cup for the cook......
  • Don't worry about overdoing the non-stick spray. It beats waxing the floors.
  • That Friendship bread recipe is great, you never knew how many friends you had until you start trying to give away all that starter juice every month!
  • No matter how it turns out, stash it in Tupperware and leave it on the counter....someone will eat it sooner or later.
  • Someone else will clean it when you're done, because they won't be able to do anything else in the kitchen until then!
